The sense of sight in the human eye is a sublime blessing of almighty enabling us to behold the beauty of this world. Without sight in the eyes, the world is a dungeon, dark all over – a hell of deepest doom. Millions of people in the world are suffering from lack of sight i.e. blindness.

The most common cause of blindness is cataract. Age related cataract remains the major cause of blindness throughout the world. It is estimated that the present number of 20 million of cataract blind will double by the year 2020. The main reason for low uptake of cataract surgery in developing countries especially in rural & remote areas are poor surgical outcome and high cost involved.
